Apple is reportedly going to make a serious foray into the smart home market, if not already, with the expected unveiling of a new smart home display come March 2025. According to sources from within the industry and insider reports, the technology giant is currently working on the device, which stitches together the capabilities of a home hub with the ease of a high-quality display.
It’s supposed to function like smart displays currently available from rivals, such as Amazon’s Echo Show and Google’s Nest Hub, and connect smart home devices together. But Apple should provide better integration with its suite of products, so users with iPhones, iPads, and HomeKit products will have seamless control over the connected devices in their homes.
Although some of the specific features remain under wraps, it is speculated that the screen will be a high-resolution touchscreen for everything from streaming media to smart home device management to video calling. It also has to support the new generation of HomeKit, which is Apple’s smart home platform, so that users can perform tasks with their voice or on-screen, including managing lights, locks, and thermostats.
It can also potentially connect to other Apple services, including Apple TV, Apple Music, and iCloud, in order to further amplify one’s custom-tailored experience in the smart home.
