Paris Jackson, the late Michael Jackson’s daughter, is accustomed to being in the spotlight—or being panned online. The singer and model recently was at the center of a controversy after she posted a series of artistic nude photos online. While some praised her strength and imagination, others took to the internet to denounce her choices. Jackson isn’t letting the criticism roll off, however.

In a frank reply to the criticism, Jackson came to the defense of her photoshoot, highlighting body positivity and self-expression. “My body, my art, my choice,” she posted on Instagram. “I’m not here to follow anyone else’s standards of beauty or modesty. This is about how great it feels to celebrate who I am.”

The photographs, featuring one of the collaborations with legendary photographer David LaChapelle, showed Jackson in a progression of natural, unretouched poses. The photo shoot aimed to document the beauty of the human form and push cultural sensitivities about nudity and self-concept. According to Jackson, she felt like the project was extremely personal.

“I spent years learning to appreciate myself and my body,” she stated. “This photoshoot was to express that journey to inspire others to embrace their own uniqueness.” While nothing about her inspiring message was to deviate from the culture of bullying, the fact remained that she met a storm of online trolls, some of whom branded her an attention-seeker or, worse, said she was abandoning her dad’s legacy. Jackson is quick to say she’s not interested in the criticism. “I don’t owe anyone an apology for how I choose to represent myself,” was her response.

Celebrities and fans alike stood up for Jackson, expressing appreciation for her bravery and candor. One fan commented, “A queen, Paris.” “Do not allow the haters to illuminate your darkness.” Many others have thanked her for taking a stand for body positivity and rising against age-old stereotypes.

It’s not the first time Jackson has received online insults. Being a celebrity, she has frequently received trolls and troll comments. Despite this, Jackson always took a chance to promote self-love and awareness of mental well-being.

“I’ve come to understand that you can’t make everyone happy,” she stated in an interview recently. “What you must be happy with is the way you feel about yourself. If you feel content and at peace, then that’s all you need to concern yourself with.”

Jackson’s reaction to the trolls demonstrates her resilience and strength in being herself. In standing up for herself and accepting her differences, she motivates her followers and defies societal norms.

As the discussion of her photoshoot goes on, Jackson is kept occupied with her music, activism, and personal development. For her, the photoshoot was not merely a creative exercise—it was a declaration of empowerment and proof that every person should feel at ease in their own skin.
