NASA’s Psyche Mission Reaches Key Milestone in Asteroid Exploration

The NASA Psyche spacecraft reached the asteroid belt while moving towards the Psyche metal asteroid in space. It was launched in October 2023 to study the predominantly nickel and iron Psyche asteroid. The goal is to offer important information on the formation of metal core planets such as Earth and may hint at the early history of our solar system as well.

This is because Psyche is believed to be the metallic core of a protoplanet that never fully formed into a mature planet.
