An Introduction to International Drinking at EPCOT

Source: USA Today

Drinking around the world at EPCOT has evolved into a favorite trip for some adult travelers. Taking drinks from the 11 countries around this lagoon, each of which offers tourists specialty drinks unique to the culture of that country, can be classified into “drinks around the world.” In order to have a fun, memorable experience, it is really prudent to plan and prepare for such an activity.

Understanding the World Showcase

Eleven pavilions at EPCOT’s World Showcase are each devoted to a different nation, including the United States of America, Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, Morocco, France, the United Kingdom, and Canada. All of these nations present authentic architecture, cuisine, and beverages that represent their heritage.

Planning Your Route

Wherever you choose to kick off your expedition is up to you. Some prefer to begin their experience by the Mexico pavilion, drinking tequila-infused “cocktails”; others might start with Canada and join in for some Canadian beers or maybe that showstopper, La Fin Du Monde. Some do, however, tend to commence at the U.K. and France’s International Gateway and experience a distinctive journey through the pavilions.

Featured Drink by Pavilion

Mexico: The Avocado Margarita is one of the specialty margaritas and tequilas offered by La Cava del Tequila.

Norway: Viking Coffee from Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe is a unique combination of coffee, Baileys Irish Cream, and Kamora Coffee Liqueur.

China: A good cocktail made with vodka and cantaloupe juice is the Canto Loopy at the Joy of Tea kiosk.

Germany: Beer lovers can enjoy real German beers in Biergarten Restaurant, such as Schöfferhofer Pink Grapefruit Hefeweizen.

Italy: Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar within the Italy Pavilion offers Italian wines plus the Bellini cocktail.

US: Fife & Drum Tavern has frozen red stag lemonade, which is frozen lemonade made with bourbon.

Japan: Katsura Grill offers plum wine and hot and cold sake.

Morocco: The Spice Road Table has the sultan’s colada, a very tropical drink that combines strong rum and flavors from pineapple and coconut.

France: Les Vins des Chefs de France serves the traditional Grand Marnier Orange Slush, a very popular frozen beverage among travelers.

United Kingdom: The Rose & Crown Pub offers the traditional British pub scene, complete with a selection of beers and ciders like the Snake Bite, which is a mix of lager and cider.

Canada: The Ottawa Apple is a cocktail from Popcorn Cart that combines cranberry juice, apple infusion, and Crown Royal whisky.

Useful Hints for a Successful Experience

Pace Yourself: Visit 11 pavilions, so make sure you really pace your drinking. Share drinks with your friends to manage your alcohol consumption and also abuse it.

Keep Yourself Hydrated: For every alcoholic beverage, have a full cup of water. This helps avoid dehydration, especially in the hot Florida weather.

Indulge in Food Delights: Pair your drinks with food products offered by all the pavilions. Sampling international foods provides flavor and lessens alcohol effects.

Plan Rest Breaks: Make time to indulge in activities, shows, or simply relax between pavilions. This will make the experience leisurely and relaxing.

Create a Budget: EPCOT beverages range from $8 to $15 per product, and costs can easily get out of hand. Having a budget in place beforehand allows for expenses to be budgeted.

Verify all the festival schedules: EPCOT has several festivals throughout the year, such as the International Food & Wine Festival, with extra drinks and an experience to remember.

Safety and Responsibility

Always drink responsibly and know your limits. Since EPCOT is a family park, the right behavior would go a long way in ensuring that everybody gets a nice experience. If at any point you find that you are sick or are unable to take care of yourself from alcohol in the park, please seek the help of a cast member or visit a First Aid station.

An international drink tour through the World Showcase at EPCOT is one of the few times you can indulge in several cultures in their food and drinks. A highlight of your Disney World experience can happen with proper planning and moderate drinking.
