The same day, roughly 90 minutes prior to the incident above, another kitesurfer went unresponsive on Kailua Beach. He was a local and seasoned kitesurfer who happened to be wearing a life jacket when the accident happened. The lifeguards were able to resuscitate him before hospital transport.
