Delta Airlines will be the first US airline to offer Shake Shack cheeseburgers onboard, starting in December. Among its efforts in bringing on board foods from some top brands, this airline plans to take in-flight dining to the next level.

Fine print: Travelers aboard the premium cabins of various domestic and international Delta flights may now satisfy their cravings with Shake Shack’s iconic cheeseburger. The deal was the first for the fast-casual burger chain as it seeks to add that little spoonful of indulgence to the flying experience, cashing in on the growing desire to dine at restaurant quality at 35,000 feet.

Of course, the cheeseburger, juicy beef melted American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce on a fluffy potato bun, will be fresh and customized according to the specifics of in-flight service. The airline has consorted with Shake Shack’s food team to ensure the consistency of the cheeseburgers’ flavor and quality even under the exigencies of flying. So, says Alaska Airlines, customers will enjoy the same great quality that has made Shake Shack popular around the world.

To cater to the lighter cravings of passengers, Shake Shack will also offer a vegetarian option version of their ‘Shroom Burger, designed exclusively for air travel.

The partnership with Shake Shack thus underscores Delta’s broader strategy of improving the passenger experience through premium offerings. The airline has over time signed partnership deals with distinguished chefs and high-end brands to offer diverse upscale meal options onboard the aircraft. The installation of Shake Shack reflects an intention by the airline to stay ahead of trends and fulfill passenger preferences.

In a statement, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Customer Experience, Allison Ausband, said, “We know our customers value great food as part of their journey, and we’re thrilled to team up with Shake Shack to bring an elevated and delicious option to our flights. This collaboration allows us to offer a taste of one of America’s favorite burger chains, creating a memorable experience for our passengers.”

To begin, Shake Shack cheeseburgers will be launched in Delta One and on First-Class cabins on select routes. These are some of the busiest flights between cities, such as New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. Plans are already ready to scale up if responses from passengers prove positive.

To mark the partnership, Delta is also offering exclusive deals at the Shake Shack locations in all of Delta’s hubs, giving customers a chance to enjoy their favorite burger before or after traveling.

The announcement has already generated excitement among passengers and industry insiders. Many see the partnership as a win for both brands, combining Shake Shack’s cult following with Delta’s reputation for premium service. Travelers have taken to social media to express their anticipation for the new offering, with one frequent flyer tweeting, “Finally, airplane food I’m actually excited about!”

Delta Airline, in association with Shake Shack, brings a fresh take on the in-flight dining experience with known quality to all such flyers. This December, when this collaboration goes live, it becomes a new benchmark for onboard cuisine to blend comfort food and luxury traveling. Be it cross-country or international flying, Delta Airline passengers can expect a bite of Shake Shack up in the air.
