The mandate for this agency largely covers work such as reducing wasteful spending by the federal government, streamlining bureaucratic processes, and deploying state-of-the-art technologies to enhance productivity.
Elon Musk has experience in innovation and digital transformation through the companies Tesla and SpaceX. He will more than likely introduce DOGE to data-driven solutions, AI, and automation that will further revolutionize government services. As an individual who has generally led the way in pioneering breakthroughs, Musk epitomizes the mandate of the department to reduce redundancy and increase productivity across federal agencies.
Vivek Ramaswamy is another Republican presidential candidate and equally successful entrepreneur, known for sharp opinions on economic efficiency and lean governance. With a biotechnology background and vibrant opinions on corporate ethics predisposing him, his engagement would be with a focus on fiscal responsibility and transparency in the federal government. He will be expected to promote deep reviews of agency functions to find overlapping programs and scrub unnecessary spending.
It will operate on four pillars: waste reduction, agency performance improvement, technology utilization, and accountability extension. In ensuring the reduction of wastes, DOGE will seek to eliminate the use of obsolete programs and simplify the procedures.
