The 2024 Heisman Trophy finalists have finally been announced, and the candidates are four outstanding athletes: Dylan Gabriel, Danielle Hunter, Antoine Jeanty, and Trey Ward. Such impressive players have shown their extraordinary abilities and consistency during the whole season, so it makes them the favorites for receiving the prestigious award – awarded annually to the best college football player.

Dylan Gabriel (Quarterback, Oklahoma)

Oklahoma quarterback Dylan Gabriel had a fantastic season, guiding the Sooners’ high-powered offense with poise and precision. He threw for over 4,500 yards and 40 touchdowns, showing that he can make plays in both the pocket and on the move. His performances against top-ranked teams and his leadership skills played a major role in his becoming a Heisman finalist. Gabriel’s vision, accuracy, and cool under pressure have made him one of the most exciting quarterbacks in college football this season.

Danielle Hunter (Defensive End, LSU)

This season, LSU’s Danielle Hunter changed the narrative of defensive players in the Heisman race with an overwhelming season. From his unrelenting pass rush to his ability to disrupt the opponent’s offense, he did it all season long. With 18 sacks and 25 tackles for loss, Hunter has been the driving force behind LSU’s formidable defense. His performance in critical games, including a standout showing against top SEC teams, earned him a well-deserved spot among the Heisman finalists. Hunter’s exceptional ability to control the line of scrimmage makes him one of the most disruptive forces in the country.

Antoine Jeanty (Running Back, Michigan)

Antoine Jeanty has been a revelation running back this season in Michigan. He ran over 1,800 yards and 22 touchdowns as a workhorse for a balanced, potent Wolverines offense. Speed, power, and vision defined his running ability, making him one of the most electrifying college football backs. His capacity to take over games and to move the chains made the difference for Michigan’s team this season. Such brilliance by Trey Ward in the Big Ten Championship game made him the favorite to win one of the Heisman Trophy candidates.

Trey Ward (Wide Receiver, Ohio State)

Trey Ward is the most explosive receiver in the wide receiving game for Ohio State under Sam Henderson who himself is a Heisman-winning quarterback. Trey has pulled down over 1,600 yards and 15 touchdowns on passes, regularly making ordinary passes into dazzling ones. Ohio State has been going to the guy who can create separation in crucial situations, and Ward has been that guy with his sharp route running. He had a record-setting game in the College Football Playoff against rival teams, which gained him wide recognition and put him on the finalist list for the prestigious honor.

The 2024 Heisman Trophy finalists show a great mix of both offensive and defensive brilliance as each one brings something different to the table. Whether it’s Gabriel with poised passing, Hunter ferociously on defense, Jeanty with the ground game, or Ward with receiving talent, these athletes have set a standard for excellence in college football this season.

The winner of the Heisman Trophy will be announced during the ceremony in New York City, where one of these four athletes will cement their place in college football history.
