Google is introducing a new set of features on its Pixel phones in the March Pixel Feature Drop, adding more functions to enhance the Pixel experience further. The rollout offers promising AI-powered tools, enhanced Google Messages, and richer features for emergency communication and sharing locations.

Among the highlights of this update is support for generating images of individuals via Pixel Studio, which is finally accessible to users of Pixel 9. This was previously available only for objects and animals with the text-to-image feature, but this opens doors to greater possibilities. With this update, users can now enter text prompts to create images of individuals, a feature that competes favorably with competing tools in Apple’s Image Playground. It will be interesting to observe how Google’s AI-created images stand in comparison to Apple’s images, especially with regard to style and accuracy.

Aside from picture-making, Google Messages is also receiving a boost from more AI features. As it follows the pattern of intelligent features, Google’s messaging application will now be able to detect and mark scam texts automatically, saving users from deceitful messages such as fraudulent bills and phishing attacks. This is just part of a wider initiative to secure users better and make routine activities smoother with AI.

Google is also simplifying location sharing for Pixel 6 and later users by bringing it into the Find My Device app. Rather than going through several steps in Google Maps to share their location, users can now easily view where their devices are and share where they are with trusted contacts in real time.

For those who tend to be in places where cellular coverage is lacking, the new satellite SOS mode is a savior. Verizon network users of Pixel 9 will be able to access emergency services over satellite when there is no Wi-Fi or cellular coverage. The feature has also been extended to cover areas such as Canada, Hawaii, and Alaska, boosting the device’s emergency feature.

Finally, the update adds some fun to your driving time with new games on Android Auto. Drivers can now enjoy playing games such as Candy Crush Soda Saga and Angry Birds 2 on their vehicle’s interactive touchscreen while parked, providing an entertaining way to kill time.

This Pixel Feature Drop, which begins today, continues to showcase Google’s dedication to improving user experience with AI-powered innovations and practical enhancements.
