While rumors still abound ahead of the iPhone 17’s anticipated release later this year, new 3D renders have appeared revealing what the future phone could look like—particularly as far as its camera design is concerned. The renders, posted by tech insider Jon Prosser, point to some major alterations to the rear camera arrangement, which has generated a lot of excitement among Apple enthusiasts.
While earlier leaks indicated a varying lens setup, Prosser’s most recent update indicates that the iPhone 17 Pro will stay with three lenses. The biggest change comes in the form of the camera bump itself, though. Instead of the usual square-shaped bulge, the iPhone 17 Pro will have a slim “camera bar” that runs along the rear of the phone. This bar is considerably taller than its predecessors, providing a more contemporary and streamlined aesthetic.
In the new design, the three camera lenses are still on the left-hand side of the bar, but the other elements including the LED flash, microphone, and LiDAR sensor are on the right-hand side. The new arrangement provides a difference from the earlier renders that had the lenses in a horizontal alignment. The introduction of the camera bar is a daring design move that might set the iPhone 17 Pro apart from others in a highly competitive market.
Prosser also touched on earlier rumors surrounding the rear of the iPhone 17 Pro sporting a “two-tone” look. As opposed to what had previously been said, the rear of the phone will retain one color, but the camera bar will be slightly darker in hue so that it is visible.
Also, Prosser asserts that the iPhone 17 Pro will be lighter than previous models, which would make the phone easier to use. Although these renders are created from leaks and insider data, it should be mentioned that Apple’s designs can always change, and Prosser’s previous predictions have been wrong sometimes.
As the release date nears, Apple fans will probably keep arguing about the design path of the iPhone 17. Whether it will have a horizontal camera setup or a broad camera bar is yet to be known, but the renders give us an idea of what is possible. Fans are waiting with bated breath for official statements and the first case designs for the iPhone 17 series to validate these rumors.
