Lenovo today announces two new mini desktop PCs, adding to its growing portfolio: the ThinkCentre Neo 50q and the IdeaCentre Mini X. With Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X series chips inside, the move could signal one of the biggest plays in recent memory to integrate Windows on Arm into the desktop world. Targeted at both consumer and business segments, these miniature PCs are going to be compactly powerful and versatile, enabling features such as Copilot Plus PC on a small form factor.
The IdeaCentre Mini X is a 1-liter mini PC for creative professionals seeking a quiet yet productive desktop. This 1L does not compromise performance or cooling: it comes with two internal fans to optimize temperature control. It features excellent connectivity options: a front-facing USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port, a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, a headphone jack, and a power button. Around the back, one will find additional ports, including USB-A 2.0, USB-C 4, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and an Ethernet port to connect all manner of peripherals.
Inside, the IdeaCentre Mini X comes with either a basic Snapdragon X or a more high-end Snapdragon X Plus. This model supports up to 32GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage, which means it will serve quite well for tasks related to creation and productivity. Additionally, Lenovo has integrated Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, so there will be no shortage of internet connectivity.
On the other hand, ThinkCentre Neo 50q is also powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X series and focuses on offering an excellent desktop experience for enterprise users. This model is compact, packing productivity features into a powerful yet efficient package.
Equipping such mini PCs with Qualcomm Snapdragon will enable Lenovo to sell an extremely power-efficient computing experience, leveraging all the potential from Windows on Arm. With all that power, along with portability and connectivity features, these PCs can be quite attractive to those who want to simplify their desktop setup without giving up performance.
This would show further innovation by Lenovo in the mini PC space to offer versatile desktop solutions, packed with the most recent mobile computing technologies.
