Svetlana Dali, a Russian national arrested earlier for hiding on a Delta Air Lines flight from New York to France, was arrested for the second time on December 11. In the latest arrest, Dali had cut off her ankle monitor and attempted to flee to Canada.

Dali first got arrested on December 4th, as she managed to board herself onto Delta Flight 264, flying to Paris. The airplane took off from John F Kennedy International Airport in New York, where Dali was found for midflight and flown back to the U.S., where New York authorities apprehended her because she “lacked proper travel documentation.”.

The French Interior Ministry said Dali, who has a U.S. residence permit, was denied entry because she failed to show a valid visa. She had been held in a holding area at Charles-de-Gaulle International Airport before being sent back to the United States.

But Days later after her first arrest, Dali continued trying to flee the U.S. On Sunday, Dec 10, Dali severed the ankle monitor placed upon her during release, police said. The Authorities are believed to have been informed when the monitor had disappeared from the Philadelphia host the accused was staying with and called the police after finding it out, officials stated.

On Monday, December 11, Dali was taken into custody at Buffalo, New York while trying to board a Greyhound bus en route to Canada. At the time, she could not present any valid passport, and she had an active warrant for her arrest.

The FBI had issued a warrant for her arrest for bail jumping. Dali was taken into custody and is scheduled to appear before a federal magistrate on December 12. This arrest constitutes Dali’s second attempt to leave the country within just 30 days, raising concerns about the scope of her plans to travel illegally outside the U.S.

The authorities have maintained their investigation into her actions and potential additional criminal charges.
