Former US President Donald Trump has declared victory in the country’s presidential election, vowing to usher in a “golden age” for the nation. Trump has taken 266 electoral votes, four short of the 270 needed to win the presidency. His campaign has won significant victories in key swing states such as North Carolina and Georgia, which has strengthened his path to the White House.

Democratic candidate Kamala Harris scored victories in Virginia and Hawaii, in addition to earlier triumphs in other blue states like California, New York, and Illinois. While Harris was leading with landslide victories in several of the electoral strongholds, she is still far behind Trump, who is having an easy victory in Alabama, Florida, Texas, Ohio, and Nebraska’s third congressional district.

THE TIMES

A record-breaking 82 million-plus Americans voted early or by mail, according to University of Florida data. In its final days, both campaigns heavily concentrated on Pennsylvania, since the Keystone State is vitally important, especially since all seven contested battleground states are being closely contested: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, and Wisconsin.

At all costs, Harris promoted unity and the protection of the country’s core rights in seeking to be the nation’s first woman and first Black woman, and the first of South Asian descent to become president of the United States. Trump concentrated on the revival of the economy and full control of immigration.

All votes are still being counted, and the United States is still holding its breath for its next declaration of president.
